Fun Run 2024

The Fun Run is back for our fourth year! There will be 2 events, a 2 km and a 5 km aimed at any running abilities. We wanted to organise an event that was fun and healthy that the whole school and the wider community could take part in together.

Profits from event ticket sales will go to the PTA to benefit the entire school.

Event Details

We're very excited to hold the Meanwood School Fun Run at the Brownlee Centre again. We are not intending to time the 2km but after the success of last year, we again intend to record the 5km run times (if our competence permits) for those that take part, but this is not a registered event. The spirit of the event is to have fun and raise a bit of money for the school. We don't wish to spend a significant amount of money on accurate timing equipment!

Adults and children can take part in either of the distances.

If you've paid for entry in the 5km run you're welcome to also run the 2km if you have kids in that event or just want to use it as a warm up!

This is an event organised by volunteers as part of the PTA. This is not a school event and children must be supervised at all times. If you are not running you are welcome to spectate from the track-side.

To prevent a lot of plastic waste we will not be providing a water station. Please bring your own water and bottle.

Event Timetable

• 2:20pm - Begin to congregate at the 2km start-line.
• 2:30pm - 2km Fun Run starts.
• 2:50pm - 5km registration starts.
• 3:00pm - 5km Fun Run starts.
• 3:50pm - We need to start packing up and vacating the track. Our track hire ends at 4pm.

Venue Details

The Brownlee Centre has toilet facilities and a café. We have been told the café will be open during our event.

We are trying to encourage car sharing where possible but realise the venue isn't readily accessible on foot. For any cyclists, there is plenty of space for bikes though!

There could be another event on at the centre, so we can't guarantee a particular number of free car park spaces when people arrive. If you're intending to arrive by car, please select the free car ticket at the event shop. This is to allow us keep track of the potential number of cars that will be arriving for the Meanwood Fun Run - but still does not guarantee a place. If there is no space available at the track, the centre has suggested parking at the Lawnswood Cemetery car park which is approximately 5 minutes walk away, or an even shorter jog :)
